Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)
Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is part of an evidence-based treatment plan that includes counseling and other behavioral therapies. This comprehensive approach to opiate or alcohol use disorders has helped save countless lives and improved the quality of life for those individuals struggling with addiction.
Burprenorphine/Naloxone (Suboxone, Zubsolv)
Buprenorphine is a medication approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of opioid use disorder. Buprenorphine is an opioid partial agonist and when taken as prescribed, helps to diminish the effects of opiate withdrawal symptoms and opiate cravings. Naloxone is an opioid antagonist and blocks the effects of opioids in the brain. Combined with burprenorphine, it discourages misuse of the medication.
